Help?
More than a year ago, my computer was hit with several thousand virus files at once. I still don't know how that happened, but the upshot was that, even after reformatting my computer, nothing worked. It forgot it had a sound card and would crash every couple of hours no matter what I did or didn't do. The sheer number of times I lost parts of stories... well, that's enough of that. I salvaged what I could from the machine and went begging. And one particular fan stepped up and helped me out. I can't share her name -- she really wants to stay private -- but she went out of her way to find me a new computer. One that *works*.

Now she -- we -- need your help. I have the computer and I'm using the ever-loving *hell* out of it, but the fangirl in question is out over four hundred dollars. I'm asking for your help. Even if you can only afford a few dollars, it would be vastly appreciated. I don't know how to thank her for what she did for me, and I don't know how to thank all of you who choose to participate in this. But I'm damned well gonna try and *keep* trying.

Thank you.

OMG THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I'm afraid I'm completely illiterate as far as online money whatever with anything, but I would like to help. If someone has a P.O. box or an address they would feel comfortable sharing, I'll send the good greenstuff right away.

You can email me at SMGriff@live.com.

Says the Woman of Mystery:

"Hmmm. The ChipIn mechanism is now set for that amount, and it will keep accepting up to that amount, not including the paypal fees and such. I really don't want to get more than the computer's cost. Maybe tell her that she is a darling, and since the auction is set to go until the 28th, she should just sit on her money. If we don't reach the goal, either of us can contact her."

You are *awesome* for asking. *hugs you a lot*

Also, your icon gives me joy. SO MUCH JOY.

Well, I'm lucky enough to be able to live with my parents while I attend school, so I have a little extra cash. Not enough to go on vacation or anything, but enough that helping out someone else with a few twenties won't make me starve. I know that there are many people who don't have that luxury right now, so it's that much more important to help out.

Awww, thank you! I wish I could brag and say I made it... but I can't.

Everybody is having a tough time of it. *Everyone*. What kills me is that my old computer was perfect in every way for my needs before the virus attack. Ah, well. This will let me save up money to take it to a good computer guru, and then maybe I'll have backup!

A back-up is always good to have. Just yesterday, my bestfriend's computer bit the dust and she narrowly saved her history paper, not to mention the thought of having to buy a new one. She's also a dedicated Mac user, so when she has to get a new computer it's super expensive.

I nearly slapped someone today because I was eating at the school cafateria and this girl said, very loudly, "God, that man was like, fifty! How lame do you have to be to still be working at SUBWAY?" I couldn't believe someone could say that in this economy. That man probably had a degree in something far more worthwhile than she was earning and was trying to make ends meet while he waited out the crash.

Same here! I don't do the online money thing (for lack of computer savvy as well as security concerns), but I really want to help, so if there's a way to do this via good old-fashioned bank transfer, please let me know!

Aw, honey, I wish I could help, but we're scraping the very last of our possessions for sale over here. I am *so glad* that you & your mystery benefactor have each other, and I'm sending much love all over for such generosity.

♥

Oh, Jesus, yes. There's so totally a tag sale in our future. I'm actually planning to give up half my books -- except for how thinking about it gives me the shakes. *hugs you hard*

I have to say I'm so impressed with the people on here! You've still got 23 days left on your counter and have collected over $400! It warms my heart to know people are so giving, even in trying times. Makes me proud to be human. ^.^
